So, we have a word problem in V2 Grade 3 that involves nicknames. In the body text, nicknames appear next to a student's regular name, and the nickname appears in quotes. It seems inappropriate to use italics as indicated because the quotes are being used for a very specific purpose. Okay to keep the quotes in this case? And if so, is this use potentially frequent enough to merit putting it on the front page?

:That's a heck of an example. I agree that quotes are appropriate in this use; but this won't happen often enough to merit putting it on the front page. That said, it may be helpful to clarify when itals should be used (emphasis, always), to make it more obvious when quotes amy be the correct thing to use in text.

That's a heck of an example. I agree that quotes are appropriate in this use; but this won't happen often enough to merit putting it on the front page. That said, it may be helpful to clarify when itals should be used (emphasis, always), to make it more obvious when quotes amy be the correct thing to use in text.
